Haverfordwest County striker Ben Fawcett has been included in the Wales C squad for the International Challenge Match against England C later this month.

The game, which will take place at The Oval – the home of Caernarfon Town – on March 30, will see the best Welsh players from the JD Cymru Premier take on the best non-league players from the English pyramid system.

The two teams will meet for the first time in almost three years, after the scheduled encounters in 2020 and 2021 did not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fawcett has netted seven goals for the Bluebirds in the JD Cymru Premier so far this season, and found the net twice on Saturday in the 6-1 win over Cefn Druids – as well as providing an assist.

The 20-strong squad, which consists of players from 11 Cymru Premier teams, will face a stern challenge against an England side that includes the likes of Wreham captain Ben Tozer and striker Paul Mullin, who scored 32 goals to help Cambridge United to promotion from Sky Bet League Two last season.

The previous meeting between the teams at Salford City’s Peninsula Stadium in March 2019 ended in a 2-2 draw, a game in which Bluebirds captain Dylan Rees started in.

We’re looking forward to seeing how the Wales team, managed by Mark Jones, gets on at the end of the month – and we’re sure that they will showcase the best that the JD Cymru Premier has to offer!

And finally, good luck Fawcey, from everyone at Haverfordwest County AFC!
