Haverfordwest County welcome high-flying Flint Town United to the Ogi Bridge Meadow in the JD Cymru Premier on Saturday (September 18).

The Silkmen have made a fine start to the season, winning four of their first five matches, with their only defeat coming away at The New Saints by the narrow margin of one goal to nil.

So far, Neil Gibson’s men have seen off Cardiff Metropolitan, Cefn Druids, Aberystwyth Town and Newtown, and currently sit in second place on 12 points, one behind the Saints.

The Bluebirds currently find themselves in 11th position, having lost four of their opening five games.

Flint are currently the league’s top goalscorers, having netted 14 times in their five matches to date. Six of their goals have come from new signing Michael Wilde, who joined from champions Connah’s Quay Nomads in the summer. The experienced front man will not feature on Saturday, however, after he was shown a red card in last weekend’s 4-1 victory against Newtown.

The previous meeting between the sides came back in May, when Flint secured a 2-0 victory at the Essity Stadium thanks to goals from Josh Amis and Alex Jones.

In the four encounters between the sides last season, the Silkmen were victorious on two occasions – the other being a 3-0 win at the Ogi Bridge Meadow in November 2020 – while the Bluebirds claimed a 2-0 success in the first meeting, with the teams playing out a 0-0 draw in Pembrokeshire back in April.
