It was not to be for the Bluebirds as Sam Snaith and Mael Davies goals meant that County were denied a place in the Championship Conference at a sunny SDM Glass Stadium.
The game was off to a cagey start as neither side could get a hold on the game. Sam Snaith won the ball back high up the pitch for the home side and crossed for Georgievsky, who headed wide.
The Bluebirds fashioned their first chance just before the half hour mark as Dan Summerfield clipped a ball over the Penybont defence, Danny Williams then headed down for Fawcett who volleyed goalwards but it was easily saved by Morris.
Matt Turner was forced off a few minutes later after a clash with Penybont’s Kane Owen and was replaced by Polish stopper, Wojciech Gajda.
There was little action until just before the half time whistle, when Kane Owen sent in a corner that was headed home by Sam Snaith to put the home side ahead.
The Bluebirds started lively in the second half, with Ben Fawcett racing through on goal, but just as he was about to pull the trigger he was blocked. Fawcett was involved again as he raced down the left but his cross once was again blocked.
Penybont began to press and a smart stop from Gajda denied a Snaith bicycle kick. Unfortunately for the Bluebirds, Mael Davies drove a low effort from the edge of the box to double the home side’s lead.
Despite Bluebirds pressure the home side held out and County were denied a place in the Championship Conference.
