Jack Wilson scored a 90th minute equaliser to ensure more late drama for the Bluebirds who earned a point at home.
A chilly Halloween evening at the Bridge Meadow saw the Bluebirds welcome title challengers Bala Town. But the first half was no horror show as the Bluebirds created plenty of chances.
Danny Williams had the first shot at goal after being played in through the right hand side, but his shot was comfortably saved by Rushton. Then, on 11 minutes Danny Williams had the chance of the half; Kieran Lewis played an inch perfect pass to Williams, who swivelled in the box and face Rushton, but he dragged his shot wide, a let off for Bala.
Danny Williams then turned provider with an excellent lofted ball through which Jack Wilson latched on to, but his half volley was straight at Rushton in the Bala goal.
Matthew Turner’s first real test came on the 35th minute, with Steven Leslie firing a rapid free-kick from 25 yards which was well matched by the 18-year old shot stopper. The sides were level at half time with few clear cut chances.
Bala had the best of the early periods of the second half. Chris Venables headed wide from a corner and Steven Lelsie fired over the bar from distance in the first 10 minutes. On the 62nd minute, Venables again was causing trouble. He wriggled through several defenders in the box before Turner rushed out of his goal and bravely blocked the shot and gathered the ball. Turner was injured in the process, but after a lengthy delay he was back on his feet.
He was quickly back to work saving a low drive from Mendes. On the 77th minute, Elliot Scotcher had Rushton scrambling as he struck an almost inch perfect free kick which for all the world looked like it was hitting the back of the net before striking the inside of the post and across the goal line.
Just 4 minutes later, Bala took the lead. A great touch from Henry Jones set away Ollie Shannon down the right, he crossed for a grateful Will Evans who struck home at the near post. Bala had finally made the pressure count.
Mark Jones had an excellent chance in the 88th minute, working the ball around the Bala defence but his shot skimmed across the face of the goal. Jones was involved again as he drove at the Bala defence, played the ball to Jack Wilson at the back post, who controlled and calmly finished into the back of the net. More late drama for the Bluebirds.
There were 8 minutes of additional time due to injuries, but there were few chances in this period, with both teams settling for a point.
The Bluebirds will now have a week off and travel to Cefn Druids on the 14th of November
