It was a match to forget for the Bluebirds who went down 3-0 at home and received 2 red cards against Flint.

The Bluebirds were on the back foot from the get go, after 2 weeks away from matches and training due to positive COVID-19 tests. Within 30 seconds, Flint looked certain to score, however the linesman’s flag was raised before the Flint striker could finish as he was offside.

There were very few chances of note in the opening 20 minutes, with both sides struggling to make an impact. But on the 21st minute, a chipped ball over the County defence was fell to Alex Jones after Matt Turner failed to collect, and the front man finished calmly to put the away side in front. Flint were the better side for the majority of the 1st half and almost scored a second, but the Flint striker had his shot blocked by one of three diving Haverfordwest defenders in the 6 yard box.

The half time break came and went with the Bluebirds needing to come out fighting. However, within 5 minutes of the restart, Flint doubled their lead. Connor Harwood picked up the ball and danced through the County defence before slotting under Matt Turner. 10 minutes later, it went from bad to worse as Alaric Jones was shown a second yellow card for a tug on the shirt of Harwood who was through on goal.

Despite having much of the ball, there were very few chances of notes for the vast majority of the second half. On the 76th minute, Wes Baynes became the second player to head for an early shower after tripping Ben Fawcett and receiving a second yellow card. From the resulting free kick came County’s best chance of the game, but Danby met Jack Wilson’s header.

Temper’s began to flare and Kieran Lewis dived in for a late challenge, and the referee deemed it was enough for a straight red card. Not long before the final whistle, a Turner clearance deflected fell to Ben Steer who made the day even worse for the home side. 3-0 was the final score.

The Bluebirds will now look to bounce back with an away trip to Caernarfon on the 28th of December for a 2.30pm kick off
