Haverfordwest County   5 Caerau Ely   0 (JD Cymru South)

Two  goals within 20 minutes set up a comfortable win against the newly promoted Caerau Ely who will need some time to settle in the new JD Cymru South league bearing in mind the youthful nature of their side.
MARCUS GRIFFITHS opened the scoring with a well taken penalty kick in the 7th minute minute following a foul on Tom Dyson. With patient build up play, the Bluebirds had more than their fair share of possession and most of the obvious attacking threats came down the right flank. Indeed, it was a much deserved goal from the impressive MILES JOHN after 21 minutes that doubled the lead. Ricky Watts and Kurtis Rees were prominent in midfield and Dyson’s  effective work rate in there too meant that  the home team were in control.  However, Steve Hall did have to act smartly on a couple of occasions to deny Caerau Ely who finished the first half strongly.
The second half saw the Blues quickly into their stride and on 62 minutes TOM DYSON, the “HONEYHOME MAN OF THE MATCH”,  scored his first goal for the club and typically just like a London bus, his second was scored within three minutes. Wayne Jones had the luxury of a strong bench and both  Harri Rowe and Jack Wilson were introduced on 56 minutes and Elliot Thomas replaced Miles John on 70 minutes. These changes did not effect the efficiency of the Bluebirds performance one scrap and the scoring was completed by MARCUS GRIFFITHS on 70 minutes.
There is strength in depth within this squad and its  attitude and determination is spot on; this is typified by young Kurtis Rees’s decision to cancel a holiday preferring to make himself available for his new club instead.  Isn’t it a pity that there are so few local supporters able to enjoy the free flowing football that is  on display at The Bridge Meadow Stadium these days?
This was a good start but there may be more difficult assignments in front of Wolvesy and his men in the not to distant future. Next Saturday we travel to Aberaman Park to play Pontypridd Town in another JD Cymru South league match kick off 2.30pm
